Roraima recorded its first confirmed case of H3N2 virus on Tuesday (28). The diagnosis was issued by the State Department of Health (SISAU).
The positive case is that of a 32-year-old woman who has just arrived from a trip to Boa Vista. She came from Goiania with flu-like symptoms and sought hospital Giraldi Roraima (HGR).
“Where the viral respiratory panel was notified and subsequently performed, it was confirmed to be infected with influenza A (H3N2) virus,” the statement said.
The patient, according to Sisao, “is in good health and is still being monitored.”
Now, the municipal team will be responsible for monitoring and completing the epidemiological surveillance.
The confirmation test was issued by the Central Public Health Laboratory in Roraima.
With the diagnosis, the Public Health Surveillance Coordination, through the Strategic Health Surveillance Information Center, issued Alert Notice No. 06 to all municipalities, to report the outbreak of influenza A virus in the state.
In the memo, health professionals were instructed on the reporting of potential cases, as well as guidance on the importance of ramping up influenza vaccination and alerting the population about preventive measures.
In addition, the secretariat said it has made influenza vaccines available to all municipalities to speed up immunization of the population.
