John Kerry, the US special envoy for climate change, congratulated Brazil today on a new commitment to reduce emissions and illegal deforestation in a message posted on social media on the official profile of the US government. Kerry said he still “looks forward” to working with the country.

Brazil today announced plans to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. The new target was announced by Environment Minister Joaquim Leid, in a statement made in Brasilia and aired on Pavihão Brasil, COP26, established at the 26th Conference. On climate change in Glasgow, Scotland.
