NS Knowledge is everything Shows this week SiriusSynchrotron Particle Accelerator. Sirius is the largest and most complex scientific infrastructure built in the country and is also one of the world’s most advanced synchrotron light sources. This state-of-the-art laboratory allows for the examination of the composition and structure of matter in its most diverse forms. Through the use of light, Sirius is able to reveal the molecular, atomic and electronic composition of materials.
In this episode, we’ll learn more about the history of Sirius. How it works and how it contributes to the development of science in Brazil and the world. In addition to all the scientific infrastructure, it should be noted that Sirius has an area of 68,000 square meters and is the most stable building in Brazil. Any potential vibration is immediately quenched so as not to disturb the electrons’ path. There were many challenges I faced to build this real work of engineering.
Raylines are the experimental stations where materials within Sirius are analyzed. In them experiments are actually carried out through the use of synchrotron light. Research stations are able to reveal structural details of biological molecules such as viral proteins. There are even some accelerators in the world studying coronavirus particles. All searches for the Covid virus are deposited in an international database, and Sirius’s searches are among the best in terms of accuracy.
The Flag is Everything airs every Saturday at 9:30 am on Brazil TV. It is also possible to watch episodes on the website and on TV Brasil’s Youtube channel.
