Campanha incentiva participação social para ajudar a reduzir impacto de desastres naturais

Campaign encouraging social participation to help reduce the impact of natural disasters – Portuguese (Brazil)

The risks of natural disasters, such as wildfires and landslides, can be reduced with the help of the population. That is why it is essential that people discuss the issue in the community, spread the knowledge they have on the subject and share ways to intervene in cases of natural disasters.

the campaign

The #AprenderParaPrevenir, launched by the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) this Tuesday (3), aims to ensure that the topic is addressed in people’s daily lives so that measures can be taken to avoid situations like the great fires that punished the Pantanal and the Amazon rainforest last year. It is prevention through knowledge.

“Learning to prevent involves avoiding physical harm, but also avoiding people’s suffering. Adopting a preventive attitude in the face of the possibility of natural disasters means not only adopting a citizen and responsible attitude, but also adopting a more humane and supportive attitude,” said Joanna Nunes, General Coordinator for the Humanities. The MIT Secretariat for Scientific Research and Training, in this sense, the campaign is very important and very necessary.

People, communities and organizations can participate in the campaign. For this you must have an active account on at least one of the platforms built into the campaign (TikTok, Instagram or Facebook). The contents of lectures, presentations, animations and games, among other languages, will be published on websites, blogs and social networks. Between August 15 and September 25, webinars are planned on this topic.

“Our dream is to create a network of schools and communities to prevent disasters and protect Brazil,” says Rachel Triber, coordinator of the National Center for Natural Disaster Monitoring and Warning (CEMADEN) Educação.

individual sharing

In the one-on-one participation, students, teachers, civil defense agents, health agents, environmentalists and influencers, among other interested individuals, must record an authored video, lasting from 15 to 60 seconds, on the topic “Disasters, Here!? How to Prevent?”. Then, just post the material on the social networks TikTok, Instagram or Facebook and select the posted video with the hashtag #AprenderParaPrevenir2021 and tag the profile @cemaden.educacao. This is the first time the campaign has been opened to individual participation.

group sharing

In the case of institutional or group participation, schools, universities, civil defences, governmental and non-profit organizations and groups, among others, should mobilize local groups to participate in the campaign, create spaces for constructive dialogue and disseminate knowledge about the prevention of local risks and disasters.

Entities should also encourage the production of short copyrighted videos (15 to 60 seconds), on the topic “Disasters, here!? How to prevent?” Ensure that material is posted on social networks identified with
hashtag #AprenderParaPrevenir2021 and tag the profile @cemaden.educacao. Institutions must also complete and submit the Institutional Participation Form available at campaign website.

In the form it is necessary to include links to access videos created and published on social networks, the full name of the authors and signature tag, as well as the relevant license terms for using images, which must be attached. There are no video limits.

Institutions registered by filling and submitting the Institutional Participation Form and which have developed local mobilization initiatives with videos produced in accordance with the proposed theme, will receive a Certificate of Participation in the campaign and will be able to compete in the educational prize draw. The winners will be announced on October 13, the International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction.

The #AprenderParaPrevenir campaign has been organized annually since 2016 at the initiative of the National Center for Monitoring and Alerts on Natural Disasters (Cemaden) of MCTI. Cemaden’s goal is to monitor and issue disaster alerts to support and protect lives and reduce the social, environmental and economic vulnerability resulting from these disasters.
