A 62-year-old Frenchman survived for 16 hours in an air bubble under his sailboat in the Atlantic Ocean before he was rescued by Spanish Coast Guard divers on Tuesday.
The Coast Guard received a distress signal from the Jane Solo sailboat at 20:23 on Monday (1). The ship was close to the Cesargas Islands in the northwestern region of Galicia. The coast guard said tracking data showed he had left Lisbon the previous morning.
A rescue ship with five divers and three helicopters on board has been sent to the rescue. Video showing the moment the ship was found capsized in the middle of the sea (look up).
One of the divers went to the hull of the ship, looking for signs of life, and the man responded by striking the inside of the hull.
Since the sea was too rough to try to rescue, they put floating balloons to prevent the sailboats from sinking further and I waited until the next morning to continue the rescue.

Two divers swam under the boat to help the sailor, who was wearing a neoprene life suit and knee-plunging.
“On his own initiative, the sailor got into the water and tried to dive. He was helped by the rescue team, who had to drag him because it was difficult to swim in this outfit,” said Vicente Copello, a member of the special squad. Operations team.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken to hospital for tests and released shortly thereafter in good health.
