4 dead, 7 injured in US stabbing attack

4 people were killed and 7 injured in a knife attack in a residential area in Rockford, Illinois (USA) on Wednesday (March 27, 2024). According to the newspaper The New York TimesThe teacher entered a house and walked around the area.

Rockford Police Chief Carla Redd told reporters a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being the attacker. He said the condition of one of the injured is critical.

“At this time, we have no clear motive to explain what led this man to commit such a heinous crime.”He declared.

The deceased included a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman and 2 men aged 49 and 22. A mail carrier was among the victims, a spokeswoman for the US Postal Inspection Service said.

Redd said he asked residents in the area to review footage from their home security cameras to see if there was anything related to the attack.
